Resolve to reconnect

We all make new year's resolutions and strive to keep them. This year, why not resolve to reconnect with your college? It's one of the most rewarding experiences you can provide as an alum.

We have alumni involved at every level of the college. This help and support truly makes our college better every day. Alumni support provides internships, scholarships, fellowships, connections, mentorships, study abroad opportunities and so much more. Alumni association membership can contribute to our rankings and reputation, and the dues help offset alumni event expenses at the college level.

Many of our alumni tell us they feel rewarded by giving back their time and energy, because they are helping the next generation of Spartans and making new connections that will last a lifetime.

In 2012, we have many opportunities for alumni to get involved.

One example is our new mentorship program called the Ten4Ten program. Alumni relations professional Lauren Lepkowski is planning this program and is recruiting alumni to be mentors, which will include an achievement dinner in the spring.

For young alumni, we have planned three specific events this spring in three cities: Lansing, Grand Rapids and Detroit. These young alumni receptions will be free opportunities for CAS alumni who are less than 10 years out of college to connect and learn about career growth.

Several additional alumni receptions this spring bring together students and alumni, and are open to all CAS Spartans. These are wonderful opportunities for alumni to find interns, provide resume help, give job advice and learn about new technology from the students studying it. Examples include our upcomingSpeed Networking event on Feb. 17, the Dinner with 12 Spartans on March 14, the Grand Rapids Showcase reception on April 13 and our Alumni Awards Celebration on May 5.

To find out more about these opportunities, please contact our Alumni Relations Professional Lauren Lepkowski at lepkows1@msu.edu
